Public Radio Engineering Conference 2025 - April 3 & 4 at the Tuscany Suites Hotel i
n Las Vegas preceding the NAB Show

The PREC is public radio's annual get-together for engineers, technologists, leaders and creators of all experience levels. Featuring two full days of presentations relevant to all radio engineers and the tech curious, with special emphasis on topics related to public broadcasting.

The PREC is also the best way to meet your peers from around the country in a a collegial setting where you can speak directly with industry leading engineers and vendors.

We also offer a virtual attendance option which allows live viewing of all presentations and allows for the ability to interact and ask questions.

The PREC is held the Thursday and Friday preceding the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention, which starts Sunday, April 6, 2025.

Registration for the Public Radio Engineering Conference, includes all presentations, meals, and Night Owl session. In person attendance is featured, but a virtual option is available.

Scholarship Winners for 2024 PREC!  
Thanks to generous sponsorship, several scholarships will be available from the Association of Public Radio Engineers for those interested in attending the Public Radio Engineering Conference 2024 in Las Vegas just prior to the NAB Show 2024.

There were many deserving applicants for scholarship to support attendance to the 2024 PREC. The three recipients are:

Darion Kootswatewa, KUYI, Hopi Radio, Kykotsmovi, AZ; Alina Pontius, KSFR, Santa Fe Public Radio, NM; and Jasmine Ziegenhagen, Optimized Media, St. Cloud, MN

 

Plus, there were two virtual conference scholarship winners:

Adam Smith, KVNF, Paonia, CO and Keller Henry, Oregon Public Broadcasting, Portland, OR.



Engineering Achievement award for 2024


This honor is to be awarded for “outstanding contributions” to the art and/or science of radio engineering that has made a “significant impact on, or improvement in” the state of the public radio industry.

The recipient of the 2024 Engineering Award is Michael Beach, Vice President of Distribution at NPRMike’s ongoing contributions to all of public radio have been remarkable over ten years of dramatic change. 

 

APRE is also delighted to recognize two foundational members of the organization with the Meritorious Service Award – Jobie Sprinkle of WFAE, Charlotte and Paxton Durham of WVTF, Roanoke (Ret). Active engineering professionals and former APRE board members, there are no two people more invaluable to the continued success of the PREC in their service to the Association of Public Radio Engineers.



The PREC 2025 committee will begin accepting proposals for presentations soon.
